bullet NAVAN SUMMER FESTIVAL SUNDAY AUGUST 1ST

Wednesday, July 21st, 2010

Navan Summerfest 2010 is in its 2nd year and is run by the Navan Shamrock Festival Committee.

We hope you will discover that the Festival programme this year offers a fantastic range of activities activities for all the family. And will begin to put Navan on the Map when it comes to summer festivals throughout the country.

An additional event on this year’s programme will be the Dinghy Duck Challenge.  The format of this event will be four 12 foot Pioneer dinghy’s crewed by two competitors, an oars person and a duck catcher, starting from a pontoon situated along the east riverbank  8 meters up from the granny station.  The four dinghies will race across the river, in order to collect their first duck on the West Bank, Navan side, then the two dinghies that began on the upriver end of the starting line, will race up the river, to port, for about 70 meters, the other two dinghies which were on the down river end of the starting line, will race down river, to starboard 30 meters to collect their second duck. With second ducks on board, the dinghies which went upriver turn and race to the downriver station and the dinghies which went downriver turn and race to the upriver station in order to collect their third and final duck.  All dinghies then race for home, the starting pontoon, the first dinghy home with three ducks wins., now that sounds like fun.

This event will start at 2 p.m. on Sunday, the raft race will begin at 3 p.m. therefore it may be possible for some people to compete in both events.  Entry to the raft race is free but as we are providing the dinghies, there will be two buoyancy aids supplied per dinghy, there will be an entry fee of €8 per team for the dinghy duck challenge.  It may be possible to offer practice runs, for those who would like to become more familiar with their craft, on Saturday the day before the event. I hope some of this makes sense, if you’re interested please contact Seamus 086 8514427.

Also on the bill this year is Teddy Bears Picnic, Dog Show, Boyne River Race,Navan’s got Talent, Jeeses 60′s, 70′s, and80′s Fancy Dress Disco,Family Sports Day,Bonnie Baby Competition,Face Painting,Fishing Competitions and much more…This is going to be a great day for all the family so why not come along and join in the fun.

bullet Noel why i left Oasis

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

BRITAIN-ENT-MUSIC-BRITS-NOEL-GALLAGHER 01Noel Gallagher has issued a full statement blaming “lack of support and understanding from my management and bandmates” as the reason why he quit Oasis  (August 28).

The new statement appeared on the guitarist’s blog at Oasisinet.com this afternoon (29).

“Dearly beloved, it is with a heavy heart and a sad face that I say this to you this morning,” he wrote.

“As of last Friday, August 28, I have been forced to leave the Manchester rock ‘n’ roll pop group Oasis.

“The details are not important and of too great a number to list. But I feel you have the right to know that the level of verbal and violent intimidation towards me, my family, friends and comrades has become intolerable. And the lack of support and understanding from my management and bandmates has left me with no other option than to get me cape and seek pastures new.

“I would like firstly to offer my apologies to them kids in Paris who’d paid money and waited all day to see us only to be let down AGAIN by the band. Apologies are probably not enough, I know, but I’m afraid it’s all I’ve got.

“While I’m on the subject, I’d like to say [sorry] to the good people of V Festival that experienced the same thing. Again, I can only apologise – although I don’t know why, it was nothing to do with me. I was match-fit and ready to be brilliant. Alas, other people in the group weren’t up to it.

“In closing I would like to thank all the Oasis  fans, all over the world. The last 18 years have been truly, truly amazing (and I hate that word, but today is the one time I’ll deem it appropriate). A dream come true. I take with me glorious memories.”

He concluded by telling fans: “Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a family and a football team to indulge. I’ll see you somewhere down the road. It’s been a fuckin’ pleasure.”

bullet Weezer seem to be a great covers band…

Weezer get their covers on
Or at least, that’s what this clips seems to show. Rock’s favourite nerds covered two pop classics on this year’s tour – MGMT’s Kids and Lady GaGa’s Poker Face. This is good…

bullet Duffy’s Diet Coke bicycle ad cleared after complaints – video

Thursday, June 18th, 2009

Duffy’s Diet Coke TV advert, which features the singer riding a bike without a safety helmet, has been cleared by Advertising Standards Authority  despite complaints.

Exactly 22 people took issue with the fact that Duffy was seen to be riding through the streets late at night without lights or reflective clothing, and as such was breaking health and safety rules in a move that could have been copied by children.

Coca-Cola chiefs denied the claims, saying she was wearing a sequinned top which reflected light, adding that bike did indeed have lights, reports the The Guardian.

The Advertising Standards Authority have sided with Coca-Cola, saying that the advert was unlikely to be watched by children due to its scheduling and was also “unreal and fantastical”.

We at E2 ask the question is the world gone healty and safty mad? What happened to the days of eating dirt and playing with traffic. Do we live in an over protected world? It’s an ad people, get over it.

bullet Beck to record off-the-cuff cover albums for release on his website

Thursday, June 18th, 2009
Behind you!

Behind you!

Over the next month, Beck will be overhauling  his website, and one of the features will be something called Record Club, in which Beck ropes in various musician friends to record an entire album in a day. For the purposes of scrappy immediacy, nobody will rehearse or arrange anything beforehand.

After that day of furious recording, Beck will slowly let the record out into the world via his website (as well as the websites of the other musicians involved), uploading a new song once a week. He’ll kick this party off with ‘The Velvet Underground and Nico’. That’s an ambitious start! Will Beck attempt the Nico vocal parts himself? We’ll find out!

Future Record Clubs will involve friends of Beck such as Devendra Banhart, MGMT, Jamie Lidell, and producer Nigel Godrich
